How To Fix A Xbox 360 E74 And RROD
This will show you how to fix the RROD/3 red lights and most E74 errors. For a similar text tutorial look at www.llamma.com Parts I Used: 8 count of M5 nylon and steel washers 1mm thick. 4 count M5 10mm bolts. I got them from www.mcmaster.com and the part numbers are 91460A224 – Bolts 95610A160 – Nylon Washers 95610A160 – Steel Washers

So I did this fix, and before I did it I had 3 red rings and the E74 error. I did just like hes doing it. And after I let it overheat, I turned it on after letting it cool, and I still have red rings, but nothing on the screen. What should I do?
dam my xbox keeps getting the E74 error after its been broken like 5 times i thin i ve have tooken it to a different dudes

i did this fix for the e74 error and when i tried it out I got the RROD what did i do wrong?
5 days ago, I got the e74 error, and thought my Xbox 360 was done for. 2 year Warranty had just barely expired, and so I decided I would try and fix it myself. I found a guide that’s exactly like the one found on this video, and decided to go out and buy all the little extra bolts/washers/thermal compound that I needed to get this fix done. I also picked up my friend’s 360 later that day to try and repair it as well. I was able to repair both Xbox 360s, and recommend this fix to anyone!
We are done!.. But, I had to do the GPU and.. The CPU.. Used Rubber washers instead of nylon for more give under heat stress.. Had Flathead Screws didn’t like the way they seated so I switched to Panhead screws.. Fired it up and no More RED RINGS!! Went straight to Green Burn in time is up so I am off to let it cool.. Test Madden for 10 mins then off to bed ! will do a followup with you all tomorrow to let you know if its holding..
i did the penny trick, will this method still be affective?
Excellent Vid going for parts now.. Will let you all know the results in a few hrs..

Just making sure my comments worked but anyway awsome vid man fixed my 360 a week ago works like a brand new system = ]
Great vid!
dude, check the secondary error code, if it ends in a 2, remove a washer off each screw under the heatsink (on top of the mobo) then redo thermal paste and dont put the screws too tight, and try it
i dont see why he saved his seal if he drilled big ass wholes in the case if he where going send it in a later time

Try doing the controled heating anyway. Mine still had three rings when I turned it on and I heated it for around 30 minutes, it worked fine afterwards.

Hey I followed all of the steps exactly…cleaned the graphic card with rubbing alcohol really well until it shined…reapplied some arctic silver switched to the bolts with one steel and nylon washer on each side…i even tried using the penny trick (remove the white spongy heat absorbers from the back nd put 2 pennys wrapped in electrical tape nd put those on there with some arctic silver. still no luck. still keep getting e74 when i try to turn it on for “control heat”. any suggestions/ideas?
not fixing a long term error and making people pay to get it fixed buy them is a smart way to get money but still they should have at least tried to fix it before sending more out with the same problem
